| Flooding in estuary at Malahide |
|
A colleague of mine parked his car down by the estuary at Strand Road in Malahide last Thursday. He found it flooded by the high water when he came back from work on the train. Does this sort of thing happen often?
We were also debating whether the estuary in Malahide is fresh or salt water - I've seen it iced over, but would sea water get in over the weir if the tide were high enough? |

| The water in the estuary above the weir is usually fresh, but at a very high tide, the sea water spills over the weir, so it can be salty, though probably not as salty as your usual sea water. I'd say your friend's car is still banjaxed though. |
