Lone Parents in Swords
Hi Folks,

I would just like to inform you of the group set up in Swords for lone parents. We are affiliated with O.P.E.N. (One Parent Exchnge & Network) and registered with Fingal County Council. Our plan is to apply to local government for the provision of a local community resource centre in Swords area.We hope the centre could facilitate the needs of parents who are raising children and are in need of resources to entertain them. At the moment we would visit places like "Newbridge" or the local beaches, and Malahide park (weather permitting!)
I realise there is a need for other resources to be put in place for parents and their children.

The aim is to inform local residents in Swords who are trying to raise children alone of the group "United Parenting" who are local mom's and dad's who decided to try to improve the areas in their lives that were lacking as a result of their situation.

We hold positive thoughts on our agenda and at present we are drafting a submission to the local government for the provision of a fully resourced community centre in Swords.

Once we have established a base we will move forward with our program to implement the much needed activities to enable our families to strengthen their input towards a "better" community to live in.

We have been kindly been offered a room to meet up on Friday evenings in the Base community centre in Brackenstown there is an available slot on Friday evenings at 7pm.

If you would like to receive more information about this topic just keep in touch or if you are aware of any other parents who may have an interest in joining the group or to attend a meeting just pass on the information please.

Kind Regards,
Joanne Crean
